#omchat

There are few things I enjoy more in life than 1. yoga and 2. talking about yoga. If you’ve found your way to #omchat, my suspicion is you feel this way, too.

#omchat is a hour-long Twitter chat held on the first Monday of each month at 9 p.m. EST/6 p.m

Why #omchat?

Our 21st century yoga practice is as diverse as the people practicing it, but in the end, we’re all in this life together. #omchat is a forum for inspiration, discussion and “you’re-not-alone” assurance that we all crave, no matter if we’re on the mat or sending a tweet.

Never underestimate the power of 140 characters. They can uproot civilizations, direct someone to safety and connect communities across the world. The last is the intent of #omchat. A social media sangha for yogis to ignite your light no matter your path. We’re all in this together.

Practicing yoga off the mat
Monday, Feb. 6 at 9pm ET/6pm PT

Sure, it’s often easy to roll out your yoga mat and get in the zone. But what happens when you step off your mat? We’ll chat about how to flow through life with ease by using the principles of yoga.

Yoga for service featuring Street Yoga
Monday, Nov. 7 at 9pm ET/6pm PT

Street Yoga’s Executive Director Rachel Sample and Communication Manager Alice Noyes join us to share the non-profit’s mission: to help struggling, homeless youth and their families overcome early-life trauma. Plus, we chat about teaching yoga for service—what to keep in mind, why yoga is so beneficial for healing and how you can get involved with Street Yoga (coming to Denver in 2012!). How do you meditate?
Monday, Oct. 3 at 9pm ET/6pm PT

From apps to maintain your meditation practice, to inspiring teachers, books and classes, we’re chatting all things meditation. Find support in your fellow yogis to meditate, especially during the time of year when we’re reminded to slow down and go inward.

In the beginning
Monday, Sept. 12 at 9pm ET/6pm PT

Our first chat has no special guest – just you! We’re kicking things off at the beginning and chatting all about our first yoga experiences on and off the mat. Take a trip down memory lane (or perhaps just last week) and share how it felt your first time.

Who’s behind #omchat?

Hi, I’m Caren, a certified yoga teacher with vinyasa, Iyengar and bhakti influences who found healing for depression through my practice. By day, I’m a full-time writer/editor for a natural products media company. I live in Denver with a pint-sized papillon who beats me up mountains. I can’t wait to chat with you!
